Ministry Update & Year in Review

Hello everyone! I wanted to give you another update and look back on this year in ministry. In my last post, I mentioned the change in direction that my ministry had taken and the potential for new opportunities to serve by teaching English. After prayerful thought and meetings with church leaders I have decided to teach English at Huachi Chico Baptist Church in Ambato, Ecuador. This is an exciting opportunity to reach young people in the Huachi Chico area of Ambato with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The challenges, however, are as great as the opportunity. Before, I was stepping into an established ministry as a partner. Now, I am stepping into the unknown as I start a new ministry on my own. This not only increases my personal responsibilities but also increases the resources needed to see that God's will is done. So as you are making your financial plans for the coming year please consider giving to this ministry. Take part in the life-transforming work that will change the young people of Ambato, Ecuador for eternity.

This year has been a challenging one for me as God has made His will known. From the visa struggles in the early part of the year to the sudden change in direction my ministry had taken to my current struggles to secure the necessary funds to move forward. All of these are obstacles meant to discourage and dissuade me from the path laid before me. Many people have encouraged me with kind words and fervent prayers and through the gifts I have already received. I pray that we would all remember to remain faithful even when we face challenges and obstacles in our path. There are some that will want to see us fail but there are faithful people who want to see us succeed. Above all, God, our creator and redeemer through Jesus Christ, wants to see His children blessed so that they in turn can bless others. So, if you have been blessed this year, share that blessing with others. Whether it be a kind word, a prayer alongside them, or a gift to your church, a local mission in your community, or a missionary like myself. As it says in Proverbs 3:27: "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act."   Let us do good to those around us especially to those who need it most.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog! I hope you are blessed and encouraged to do what God has laid on your heart today. May God bless you and keep you may His face shine upon and be gracious to you and give you peace. I pray that have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Blessings,

Jonathan Green

A Long Overdue Update

Hello everyone! The title of this post speaks for itself as this is indeed a long overdue update about me and the ministry God has planned for me. One of the major reasons for the delay was that there was nothing to report. My visa application process was delayed for months due to paperwork being changed in Ecuador. Then, once I had finally received the paperwork I thought I needed, the consulate told me I was still missing some of what they required. It was at this point that Steve and Carol Thompson were travelling in the States and Steve stopped by Dahlonega in early May. After meeting with him, he shared that he no longer needed staff and that I should find my own area of service. With this in mind, he invited me to stay and work alongside him and the staff at Camp Chacauco for two months as I explored the options presented to me. So, on June 18th, I arrived in Ecuador and I have since been working here at Camp Chacauco. I have also begun exploring the possibility of teaching English as a way to connect young people to local churches in the Ambato area. I have had some preliminary meetings and I will be meeting with another church today as I continue to search for ways to serve Him. Meanwhile Camp Chacauco continues to thrive as it reaches more people with the Gospel. Please continue to pray for the Camp and for its staff as they continue to serve the needs of children, young people, and the local church. Also be in prayer for me as I pursue my own area of service here in Ecuador. Thank you so much for stopping by and God bless!

The New Year so Far

Hello everyone and belated Happy New Year! It has been about three weeks since my last post and I thought I would give you all an update about how things are going. First of all I would like to thank everyone that has become involved in our ministry to Ecuador. Whether that is through financial support, through prayer, or by sharing this blog with your friends on Facebook. It really does mean a lot to me but also enables and encourages me to reach the people of Ecuador with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have not left for Ecuador yet as I am still awaiting paperwork to be completed in Ecuador. That paperwork will then be sent to me so that I can complete the visa process at the Ecuadorean Consulate in Atlanta. Until then, I continue to be involved with the young adult ministry at Dahlonega Baptist Church, called Kaleid, which started again on Sunday the 10th. We had a great time of genuine worship as we explored God's Word in chapter 1 of First Timothy. If you would like to learn more about Kaleid feel free to check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Kaleidcommunity or their website at http://kaleidcommunity.org/.

Thank you so much for dropping by the blog today! Another way you can connect with me is through my YouTube channel at this URL:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgIy6ZQSCl8ydPriJtroqQA.

You may have noticed that it is a long and convoluted web address but that's because I need at least 100 subscribers to get a custom URL that will make it easier for you and others to find it. I currently have some videos of the songs we did from our children's camps a couple of years ago to give you an idea of some of the things we do. This channel will be the place that I will upload videos while I am in Ecuador so if you are interested in seeing video of me and the things we do in Ecuador please consider subscribing. Thanks again and may God bless you and keep you! - Jonathan
