Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! Today, I wanted to give you an update on everything that’s been going on starting with my brief visit to Dahlonega. It was such a blessing to be among family, friends and my brothers in sisters in Christ at Dahlonega Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church and Foothills Fellowship. It was so encouraging to see them and to know that they are supporting me, not only financially, but through their prayers as well.
Upon arriving back in Ecuador, I quickly went back to work preaching the following Sunday at Pelileo Baptist Church. After travelling back to Ambato, my wife Rosemary and I travelled to the town of Salcedo where we met with a church group that had come to serve as a medical mission team to the city of Latacunga. I served as a translator for one of the doctors and my wife helped the ophthalmologist. During the 4 days of the clinic, we had the privilege of serving more than 1200 people in need of medical attention and care. Every person that entered the clinic, which was held at Latacunga Baptist Church, heard the Gospel and many responded in faith and received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. One family that we helped stands out, a single mother came to the clinic with her son. Her son was autistic and had been hitting himself in the face and hitting his head against the wall. His mother had no idea what to do and all we could do was to treat some of his injuries. But there was an occupational therapist that was also helping at the clinic and she gave the mother some instructions on how she can help her son calm down. As I translated the instructions, we could see the relief and hope in this mother’s eyes. She explained that the doctors in the public hospitals refused to see him because he was uncontrollable but now, she had a way to help her son and to keep him from injuring himself in the future. This was just one family, 2 people among more than 1200 that received hope during our short time there.
The following week we went for a visitor’s visa appointment for Rosemary in Quito. Unfortunately, our application was denied and we will have to try again. But, by God’s grace, I know that one day it will be approved and Rosemary will be able to travel with me and get to know my family and my brothers and sisters in Christ in Dahlonega. That same week, we also had Vacation Bible School at Huachi Chico Baptist Church. Over 50 children came and sang, and played and learned about the love of Jesus through the teaching of His Word. God provided us with great help from church members and it was great time for the kids and for us also.
Pre-teen class at work on their craft.
Pre-teen class at recreation time.
Now that July has ended, I’m now looking forward to starting the English courses again. Rosemary has already started back at the school getting ready for the new school year. There is so much to look forward to but it’s always good to pause and remember God’s faithfulness in the past. July was a great month, but I look forward to what the Lord has for us next. Until then, thank you so much for dropping by and God bless you!
Blessings,
